Bangor TV Show Earns Emmy Nomination

“The Nite Show with Danny Cashman,” a locally produced late-night talk and variety show, has been nominated for a New England Emmy Award.

Band leader Brian Catell earned the nomination for “Musical Composition/Arrangement” for “Nite Time Tune,” which is performed during each show.

The nomination is a major achievement for Catell and “The Nite Show,” and is the only nominee from the Bangor television market.

The competition for a New England Emmy is fierce. “The Nite Show” is up against programs from much larger markets, including Boston and Hartford, Conn.

Catell, who lives in Bangor, is the composer and arranger on the show’s theme and performs weekly with The Jump City Jazz Band as part of the program.

“The Nite Show” airs Saturday nights at 11:30 on WABI in Bangor and at 10 p.m. on WPME in Portland. The show is recorded at the Next Generation Theatre in Brewer.
